Why does the report cost 599 €?

In short: you are not paying for a tube, but for the scientifically grounded interpretation of a complex condition — and for access to the research that makes it possible at all. The price is fixed; payment in installments is possible.

Like a map

Your saliva sample is only the starting point. The hard part was creating the map in the first place — finding out which genetic patterns may play a role in Long COVID and ME/CFS. Your price therefore covers not just the trip itself, but access to that map.

Not a simple condition — not a simple test

Many people have similar complaints — exhaustion, exertion intolerance, problems with concentration, sleep or circulation. But the biology behind it differs from person to person. In post-viral conditions a single gene rarely plays the lead role; rather, many variants act in combination. A single lab value or marker is not enough for that.

What the price covers

  • Sample kit and shipping (both ways)
  • Genome-wide sequencing per person: low-pass WGS at CeGaT in Germany
  • Quality control of the genome data
  • Bioinformatic analysis — patterns instead of single values
  • Comparison with scientifically described Long COVID / ME-CFS mechanisms
  • Physician's order and release (GenDG)
  • Secure data processing in Germany (GDPR Art. 9), pseudonymous
  • An understandable, personal results report

The demanding development behind it

For this test to be possible at all, years of research and development were needed (including the Innovate UK project LOCOME): large patient cohorts, control groups from the UK Biobank, demanding quality control, complex combinatorial pattern analysis and comparison with Long COVID research. Only this foundation makes your single sample meaningfully interpretable.

What the €599 covers

The fixed price bundles several real cost blocks — from sequencing in a German laboratory to medical sign-off.

  • Lab & sequencingLow-pass WGS at CeGaT, an accredited laboratory in Germany
  • Analysis & pattern matchingCombinatorial analysis on the research platform (PrecisionLife)
  • Medical guidance & sign-offOrdering and release under the German Genetic Diagnostics Act (GenDG)
  • Kit, shipping & infrastructureSample kit, secure data processing, VAT

Illustrative breakdown for orientation — not an exact cost statement. The price is fixed; instalments are available at no extra charge.

What you get — and what you don't

You get

A biological orientation map: which mechanisms (immune system, nervous system, inflammation, cellular stress response, energy metabolism, signalling pathways) may be genetically more prominent in you — so your doctor's appointment becomes more structured.

You don't get

No diagnosis, no treatment recommendation, no promise of cure. The underlying analysis is a research signal (preprint, not yet peer-reviewed) and is not intended for direct clinical decision-making.

A cheap test measures a single value. This report combines genome-wide sequencing, complex analysis and the research platform behind it.
